ButBelfius Mons-Hainaut was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Groningen 93-87 on Saturday night. Groningen outrebounded Union Mons 42-25 including a 13-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Danish forward Dane Erikstrup (208-2003, college: WSU) fired 36 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Austin Luke (191-1994, college: Belmont) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Groningen's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Point guard Matteo Verstraete (189-2003) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and Slovenian guard Maks Klanjscek (196-1999, college: Oklahoma) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Groningen and four Union Mons players scored in double figures.
